My art is about reclaiming the wounded child that lives within all of us, and celebrate the embodiment and freedom, particularly in women living in their full power. My work explores how movement brings a sense of authentic living and aligns us to the present moment. Movement is the opposite of stagnation, which is one of the main catalysts for suffering and depression. With a background as a contemporary dancer, my creative process comes from my desire to express the human form in relationship to oneself, one another and the environment. Humor in the absurdity of life, ask to seek lightness from the weight of the human psyche.
Body language and gesture have always been my way to understand what is communication, relationship and how we convey the spirit. As a model for art classes at the NY Studio School, I discovered my desire to sculpt. I then moved to Paris to study sculpture and connect with my European roots. Walking the streets and viewing the museums my soul came to life. As well as my travels around the world as a dancer, I was struck how movement and music were vital in the community’s storytelling. Myth and anthropomorphism intrigue my curiosity of the human journey to self-realization, and connection to the natural world. In ancient cultures, Shamans were the artists and vise versa. I seek to understand the link between the two. Inspiration comes to me in dreams, meditative spaces and personal life experiences. My intention is to quantify the soulful experience into the three dimensional form, transmuting the ephemeral to the physical.
